Weekly Word - Romans 5:3-5, My Reading Life, To Do Tuesday, Gratitude Journal from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

May we always remember

Hello Everyone!
It's been a fantastic sewing week!  I've finished a bunch of projects and continue to work on more.  The Road Trip quilt has been a challenge, one that I would probably stack in the UFO pile, but I'm glad I'm sticking with it!
I finished two great books and am eager to continue with my current reads.
Summer temps are rising, but that didn't stop my husband and I from enjoying a pleasant morning on our back patio.
I hope you had a great week and enjoy this post ...

Pieces in the Garden Final Assembly from Melva Loves Scraps

This post is a bitter-sweet... Here are the final instructions for the finishing of the Garden Row Quilt.  When I was auditioning fabrics for the final border and binding, I tried a wide variety of options.  This quilt with so many small blocks was so busy I had a difficult time finding anything that was acceptable to me... Until I tried the bold, bright solids.  These are not a typical choice of mine, but when I placed them on the design wall my eyes (and mind) were pleased with the "calming effect" that they brought to the blocks.  My eyes ...

Weekly Word: Encouragement + Books, Stitches and Gratitude! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 Hello There,

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you are doing well!  This week has been for us with highs in the 50's and lows in the 20's!  Between RSV, the flu and COVID numbers going up, I've been hibernating except for essential errands.  The winter storms are certainly causing havoc across the nation, aren't they?  I hope you all are safe and warm today/tonight!

I hope you enjoy this post, especially my Slow Stitching squirrel:  crocheted Christmas ornaments, some fun Christmas audiobooks I've been listening to and a fun song to get ...

Pieces in the Garden - Jacob's Ladder - Block #12 from Melva Loves Scraps

 “Bride’s Quilt”
Once upon a time, there was a little girl, who wore a bow in her hair. When she grew up, she began a friendship with a young bachelor. As the hours and days passed, they began to look at each other with stars in their eyes, and as their love grew, they thought about taking steps to the altar. So, the young girl got out her spools of thread and made clothes to get ready for their wedding ring day.

After they are married, some of their times together will be bright as noon and others will ...

Weekly Word: Thankfulness + Books, Stitches and Gratitude! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 Hello There,

It's been a wild week as we came home from San Diego, babysat for a few days and went right into Thanksgiving!  In the midst of all of our activity, thankfulness has been on my mind.

I would be remiss if I didn't add you, my faithful readers and friends, to my gratitude list.  Your comments, support, friendship and prayers are a blessing to my life!  On that note, a big shout out to Quilter Kathy at Kathy's Quilts for showing me how to fix my spellcheck issue with blogger!  You can find the solution ...

Welcome to teatime with TT... Tressie Teegarden.  Today, we chat with Tressie (and Forrest) about their memories of Thanksgiving... grab a cup of tea and settle in.

Grandma, how did your family celebrate Thanksgiving when you were young?  Did you have guests?

We had big dinners.  Turkey, pies and the works.  There was always a big group of relatives.  Mom did most of the cooking.

Grandpa, what about your family?

We always had a big turkey dinner and sometimes there were 30 people there.  A lot of the time it was in Stonewall at Auntie Bob's.  My mom and ...

Teatime with TT ~ Halloween ~ Bonus Block Flittering Leaf from Melva Loves Scraps

Welcome to teatime with TT... Tressie Teegarden.  Today, we chat with Tressie (and Forrest) about their childhood memories of Halloween... grab a cup of tea and settle in.

Grandma, when you were a young girl, did you go Trick-or-Treating on Halloween?  What did you dress up as?

Yes. (We would do trick-or-treating) but we didn't really dress up.  We would bundle up because it was always cold.  One year the Stone's had a party.

Did you carve a pumpkin?  Did you make scary faces or happy face pumpkins?

Yes, we always carved a pumpkin.  I usually made happy ...

Teatime with TT & Heather from Melva Loves Scraps

Welcome to teatime with TT... Tressie Teegarden.  Today, great-granddaughter, Heather, shares the memories that stand out the most in her mind.  Her top three are as follows:

The box of chocolates on top of the fridge...

This is a popular memory!  Karri recalled the chocolate box as holding some shells that were used to serve appetizers.

Heather remembers that before these boxes were "repurposed" they were on top of their refrigerator.  It was an older (and shorter) fridge, and she was able to reach up and get the box to choose the chocolate of her choice as a near teen ...

Hello there!

How are you?  Thank you for stopping in especially after my unexpected blogging break the last two weeks of July!  After deciding to fix my other knee,

I've been packing in as much time with family, friends and grandbabies as I can.  Hence, there's been little time for online activities.  More about that in the Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer section below.

For now, let's move onto the post!

Teatime with TT & Wendy from Melva Loves Scraps

Welcome to Teatime with TT... Tressie Teegarden.  Today Tressie's niece, Wendy, is stopping by to share some of her most special memories...  Grab a cup of tea and join us!

I loved her so much! She ALWAYS remembered my birthday with a Story Book Doll every year. Though minus the mantilla I still have the Senorita she sent me from her trip to Mexico! I wish I still had the rest. But, in high school I worked a Santa Clause Shop and was appalled at the quality of gifts!  A church friend and I pounced on everybody we knew ...
